Crossing properties of graph reliability functions

چکیده
We consider undirected graphs, and assume that each edge of G exists with probability p 2 (0; 1). The all{terminal reliability function A(G; p) of such a random graph G is the probability that the spanning subgraph formed by the existing edges is connected. A two{graph is a graph with two distinguished vertices called terminals. The two{terminal reliability function T (G; p) of a two{graph G is the probability that the subgraph of G induced by the existing edges contains a path connecting the terminals. Till recently no examples of pairs of graphs have been known whose all{terminal or two{terminal reliabilities cross more than twice and only one example of exactly two crossings. In [9] we proved that for every integer N there exist pairs of graphs (two{graphs) whose all{terminal (respectively, two{terminal) reliabilities cross more than N times. In this paper we give simple constructions that provide, for every sequence (m1; : : : ;mk) of natural numbers, in nitely many pairs of graphs (two{graphs) (G1; G2) of the same size such that A(G1; p) A(G2; p) (respectively, (T (G1; p T (G2; p)) have exactly k roots x1 < : : : < xk in (0; 1) such that xi is of multiplicity mi, i = 1; : : : ; k. These results are based on so called A{ and T{multiplying constructions that are interesting in themselves.

Providing a Simple Method for the Calculation of the Source and Target Reliabili- ty in a Communication Network (SAT)
The source and target reliability in SAT network is de- fined as the flawless transmission from the source node to all the other nodes. In this article, a method has been proposed to compare the reliability in complex networks b...

We describe rational knots with any of the possible combinations of the properties (a)chirality, (non-)positivity, (non-)fiberedness, and unknotting number one (or higher), and determine exactly their number for a given number of crossings in terms of their generating functions. We show in particular how Fibonacci numbers occur in the enumeration of fibered achiral and unknotting number one rat...
متن کاملOn characterizations of weakly $e$-irresolute functions
The aim of this paper is to introduce and obtain some characterizations of weakly $e$-irresolute functions by means of $e$-open sets defined by Ekici [6]. Also, we look into further properties relationships between weak $e$-irresoluteness and separation axioms and completely $e$-closed graphs.
متن کاملOuterplanar Crossing Numbers, the Circular Arrangement Problem and Isoperimetric Functions
We extend the lower bound in [15] for the outerplanar crossing number (in other terminologies also called convex, circular and one-page book crossing number) to a more general setting. In this setting we can show a better lower bound for the outerplanar crossing number of hypercubes than the best lower bound for the planar crossing number. We exhibit further sequences of graphs, whose outerplan...
